IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Adele
Taylor
May 19, 1932 – January 27, 2020
Adele Sheffield Taylor, 87, passed away peacefully January 27, 2020 due to post stroke complications. She was born May 19, 1932 in Plainfield, New Jersey to Wesley and Beatrice Sheffield. Her family relocated to Manheim, Pennsylvania where she attended school, graduating from Westminster College in 1954 with a Bachelor's degree in business.
She became a Girl Scout Leader in 1956 and during the following years, found employment in various secretarial positions as cashier, typist and stenographer in Pennsylvania, California and Florida, finally residing with her father who retired to Deland, Florida. There she met her husband, Robert Earl Taylor, whom she married in October, 1961 and who preceded her in death in 1974.
Most recently, she served as a Pink Lady at Volusia Memorial Hospital, a teacher aid at T. Dewitt Taylor Middle school, Pierson, Florida and also the Alachua County Library in Alachua, Florida.
Adele was a loving mother who devoted her life to the care and support of her children. As Roy Lessin declares, "A mother's best teaching tools are a peaceful spirit, a graceful manner, a gentle way, and a contented heart", (The Loving Heart, 2005). She also lived a life of faith, attending churches of many denominations although formally baptized Baptist.
Adele is survived by her daughter, Barbara Taylor; her son John Taylor, her grandchildren Barbara Kay and Leslie Marie; plus three great-grandchildren.
