Adrienne Atkins, 93 years young, passed away on July 30, 2014 after a brief illness. Born in 1921, the daughter of Adrian and Elizabeth Meringer, who had immigrated from Hungary in 1898, she was predeceased by her husband, Art, in 1990. Adrienne was one of the GOOD people. She had an infectious smile that brightened everyone's day and truly reflected what was in her heart and her soul. She was a dear friend to many and her sense of humor, her joyful laugh, and the way she loved life encouraged all of us to live each day to the fullest, with joy and care for others. Adrienne was in two bowling leagues and a shuffleboard club, was an accomplished artist, and enjoyed performing and singing with her neighborhood groups, The Pickwick Merry Makers and the Pickwick Singers. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and was a wonderful servant to her God. She certainly lived His instruction to "love thy neighbor." Adrienne loved the ocean and in her younger days was an active boater with her husband Art. She and Art also enjoyed restoring antique Ford cars and won many awards for their work. Since many of her friends are out of town at this time of year, a memorial service will be held in early November. For more information, please refer to the website, . In her final weekes, Adrienne was given wonderful care by the Port Orange Hospice Center and we ask that donations be made to them in Adrienne's name to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
