Anastasia "Nettie" Domaszewski of Edgewater, FL passed away at Brookdale Assisted Living in Port Orange, FL. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley and her son Thomas. Born January 17, 1922 in Cicero, IL a suburb of Chicago, she was the daughter of Stanley and Hattie Lubanski.
Nettie served in the Army during WWII. After training in Daytona Beach, FL she was sent to the Philippines during the Pacific Campaign. After the war she met her husband in Chicago and after getting married they returned to his hometown of Torrington, CT.
When her children were older she was employed at several retail stores. She worked at Star's in Torrington for a number of years; then worked in the kitchen of the Forbes school in Torrington. In 1995 she retired to Edgewater, FL.
She loved to cook, dance the polka, crochet, do needlepoint, read and she even took up painting. She traveled extensively around the world. One of her greatest joys was being part of the last the Honor Flights from Volusia County to Washington, DC with other WWll veteran.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara Magnuson and husband Peter of New Smyrna Beach, FL, son Michael Domaszewski of Frost, MN and son Stanley Domaszewski and wife Fay of Edgewater, FL, and daughter-in -law Lisa Domaszewski widow of Thomas, Torrington, CT. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Jason and Deborah, Paul and Jennifer, Shannon and Danielle, Matt and 6 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Brookdale Port Orange for their care and companionship during her stay and to Vitas for their care and compassion during her last days. A brief memorial service will be held Friday July 22nd at the Edgewater/New Smyrna cemetery at 10:00am. In January the family will hold an interment service at the cemetery.
