IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur
Schrysen
November 23, 1925 – August 18, 2024
Arthur (Art) Schrysen, ne Schrayshuen, passed into his eternal home on August 18, 2024. He was born November 23, 1925 to Lena F. and Arthur E. Schrayshuen on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, where he grew up.
After high school, Art served 26 months in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II, concluding his service on Okinawa. Following the service he attended Pathfinders Radio School and was a radio announcer in several cities. In 1951 Art entered the natural gas field as Office Manager for New Jersey Natural Gas Company in Ship Bottom.
Art's 1962 marriage to Joan Singley was the beginning of their 62 years together. They were blessed with two children, Chris Schrysen and Carol Schrysen Smith. A major move in 1969 brought the family to Florida, first to Winter Park, then Eustis and finally Daytona Beach in 1975. During this time Art worked for Florida Gas company, now Teco, retiring in 1988.
Over the years Art took an active role in various churches, currently Central Baptist Church. Having grown up on the Atlantic coast, he always enjoyed water sports. He and Joan were longtime boaters and members of the Halifax Cruise Club.
Art is predeceased by his parents and sisters, Eleanor Crane and Dorothy Cranmer. He leaves behind, besides Joan, Chris, and Carol, Carol's husband Kevin, his brother Richard Schraysen and wife Dolores, Joan's sisters Jean Carlson and June Nyblade, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Services will be held at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Sonny Gallman presiding. A reception will follow. Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Mims, Florida.
The family thanks Gentiva Hospice, especially Tisa, Pete, Jessie, and Cathy, for their excellent care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Central Baptist Church, 152 Fairview avenue, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 or a charity of your choice
