Audrey Drawdy

Audrey Drawdy of Jacksonville, FL, peacefully passed on August 25, 2020 at the age of 94.  She is survived by 3 daughters, Julia, Joan and Cleo, three granddaughters, and two great granddaughters as well as Bob's daughters, Barbara, her son and grandson; and Sandra, her 3 daughters, a son, and 4 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by Bob Drawdy, her husband of 14 years and Leo Hoffman, her first husband to whom she was married for 35 years.

After Audrey graduated from high school, she accepted a job at Langley Field in Hampton Virginia. At 17 she became "Rosie the Riveter" on airplane wings.

After the war Audrey returned home and went to secretarial school.  While studying bookkeeping she got a part-time job at the Hudson car dealership in Bristol Virginia.  Her handsome boss, Leo, gave her a ride home from work several times.  They began dating and were married in 1946.

They had a happy marriage and a great partnership.  They moved to Daytona Beach Florida where they owned several beach concessions renting floats, umbrellas, chairs, bikes, and scooters.  Audrey kept the books for the family business and later retired as head bookkeeper for a large hospital.

Audrey was very involved with the girls' activities such as room mother, PTA, drama presentations, Brownies and Girl Scouts.  She was fun loving, even enjoying parasailing in Acapulco. She was willing to try new things and took up line dancing in her late 80's.  She was curious about the world and enjoyed watching local and national news and game shows16.

She an avid golfer and bridge player.  She enjoyed singing in the choir, playing the piano for Sunday School and hand bells at the Methodist Church.

When Audrey met her second husband, Bob, they found a mutual interest in traveling and went all over the world.  She and Bob had a wonderful life together.

She moved to Jacksonville in 2007 to be closer to her daughters and joined Mandarin United Methodist Church.

There will be a private memorial service in Jacksonville.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice or one of the following which were special to Audrey.
