Barbara Jean Senkovich, 84, passed away at 10:22 AM on July 20, 2015, in Buford, GA. She was a 52 year resident of Daytona Beach, FL. Mrs. Senkovich was born December, 26th, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan. After marrying her childhood sweetheart, Donald M. Senkovich, the couple moved with their two children Michael and Linda to Daytona Beach Shores in 1962. Mr. & Mrs. Senkovich were married 54 years before the passing of Donald in 2002. Mrs. Senkovich with the aid of her husband Donald were owners and developers of 5 beachside motel properties and one twenty-one unit apartment building, all located in Daytona Beach Shores. Among some of the larger properties owned and co-owned by Mrs. Senkovich were the Aladdin Inn and Palm Plaza. She was not only a dedicated business woman, wife, and mother, but also a friend to every person she met. Everyone knew her as Barbara and she was the heartbeat of the home and businesses. She always treated her staff and customers as if they were family. During Spring Breaks, she was the protective mother looking after the vacationing students; race weeks, she was the perfect hostess; and, whenever a hurricane was barreling through the area, Barbara was chief restaurant cook and pistol packing security guard for the family and motel guests. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Dr. Pierre J. Samaan; son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Victoria Senkovich; grandchildren, Michael (wife; Christine) and Robert (wife; Susan) Samaan, Christopher (wife; Lori) and Catherine Senkovich; great grandchildren, Sarah, Allie, Zach, and Colton Samaan. All the children called her "Ga-Ga." We will all miss her. Funeral service will be 11 AM, Friday, July 31, 2015, in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1425 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach. Interment will follow in Daytona Memorial Park. Memorial Donations may be made in her memory to the Halifax Humane Society, 2364 LPGA Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32124.
