Barbara Ann Holmes Toney (Pudgy)
October 19, 1931 - November 26, 2016
Barbara was born at Halifax Hospital and raised in Daytona Beach. She graduated from Mainland High School in 1949, at the great relief of her teacher, Ms. Frances Gatch. She attended nursing school before joining the Navy. After marrying she lived and worked in Carnegie, PA for 25 years and in 1980 she moved back to Daytona. Her parents were Alice Reese Holmes and Francis (Snag) Holmes. She was predeceased by her husband Elfred Toney, in 1997. She is survived by three children: Laura Hall, Camano Island, WA; Michael Toney, Avocado Dr. S. Daytona; Christopher Toney, Los Altos, CA: eight grandchildren and one great grandchild: two brothers, Red and Snag Holmes: two cousins, Kathy Craig and Peggy Campbell who loveingly care for her and a dear friend, Joe DeGilio, who kept her going with his homemade soups and always being available to help her. Her quote "I haven't got the time nor the money to tell all my friends goodbye, actually at my age it wouldn't take very long. So I'll just say, so long it's been good to know ya."A private service will be held by the family. Arrangements are in the caring hands of Cardwell Baggett & Summers funeral home.
