IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara A.
Wood
July 8, 1938 – April 10, 2023
Barbara Ann Wood passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday April 10th, 2023. Barbara was born on July 8th, 1938, in the Bronx, NY, to Joseph and Ethel Deckler. Barbara met the love of her life, William Charles Wood, at 18 years old. She moved to Florida in 1956 and they wed. They were married 46 years until his passing in 2003, but not a day went by that they weren't together. She was survived by her daughters Christine (Kevin), and Karen (Paul). She was preceded in death by her oldest son William (Diane). Barbara took much pride in being a grandmother and was so grateful for her three grandchildren and great grandchild, Ashley (Casey), Abby, Kiley, and Ayla.
Her best friend since fourth grade, Patricia Cash, was also a big influence in her life. They were always by one another's side and together, they were there through life's journeys. Once their children started attending St. Paul's Catholic school, Barbara and Pat developed a close group of friends widely known as the St. Jude Circle. Barbara was also a very family oriented person that drew strength from those she was closest to. In addition to devoting much time to her family and friends, she invested considerable effort in caring for others, taking pride in her job as an administrative clerk for Halifax Hospital and Family Practice Center. In her free time, Barbara loved to shop and was always on the go. She was described by those closest to her as one of the sweetest, most loving, and kindhearted people they knew. She truly was an angel on Earth.
