IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Benjamin Alan
Silver
September 3, 1969 – May 9, 2018
Ben was born in Mansfield, Ohio but grew up on Daytona's beachside, attending Ortona Elementary and Seabreeze High School.
Riding his bike, skateboarding, surfing, then racing MotoX and jet skis filled his younger years. He has a roomful of trophies.
After high school he was a jet ski performer for SeaWorld's Baywatch Show. People would line up to take pictures with him. He loved being a showman! With a degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University he worked as an airplane mechanic for Delta Airlines in Atlanta. Later he was an instructor for Jet Blue based in Orlando. Struggling with the effects of Asperger's Syndrome Ben moved back to Daytona Beach, living just blocks away from his childhood home. A short time ago he was diagnosed with ALS. It hit him hard and fast. He spent his last few days at Halifax Hospital Hospice Care in Port Orange. Ben loved his rescue kitty, Nelly, working on aircraft, jet skiing, his Porsche, and Motley Crue.
Ben is survived by his parents, Doug and Jane of South Daytona, his Aunt Mary Ann of Malibu, Ca. who he could always talk to, his Uncle Buzzard of Ohio who took him on many adventures, cousins out West, and many wonderful friends from all over the USA who have gathered here to share their love and support, and to remember him.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday May 12, 2018 at Cardwell Baggett & Summers Funeral Home, 301 Big Tree Road (at US1), South Daytona.
Condolences may be shared with the family here on our online guestbook.
