Benson Winton Burnette peacefully departed this world on January 12th, 2024, in St. Augustine, Florida. He was born on August 9th, 1934, in Jacksonville, Florida to Herschel Benson Winton and Frances R. Burton. Ben's journey was marked by incredible experiences and heartfelt connections.
Ben proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, participating in the historic Operation Red Wing that tested the first Hydrogen bomb in the Pacific. Post-service, he pursued education at the University of South Carolina, earning a degree in business administration.
His professional journey led him through esteemed companies like Johnson and Johnson, Burdick, and Nihon Kohden. In 1987, Ben embarked on an entrepreneurial adventure, founding a company that eventually blossomed into Florida Medical Sales, a thriving business today.
Beyond his career, Ben was an avid and competitive tennis player, forging lasting friendships through his passion for the game. He leaves behind a rich legacy carried on by his three children Herschel Benson Winton III (Denise), Lee Christopher Winton-Burnette (Kathy), and Judith Ashton Nagle (David), seven grandchildren Megan, Jenna, Kelly, Evan, Emma, Christopher, and Andrew along with eight great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his wife Zana King Winton Burnette and his second wife Ann Oberg Winton Burnette.
