Obituary

Betty Virginia Benson Buss, born in Orlando, Florida on June 27, 1927, went home to be with our LORD Jesus on May 30, 2024, at the Ormond Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Betty was married to Clarence Philip (Phil) Buss for 68 years who served 32 years in the Army as a chaplain and a Presbyterian minister. Betty is survived by two sisters – Nancy and Gloria - her children – daughter Marcia (husband – Art) Riggs of Hickory, NC, sons: PT (Terry) Buss (wife, Linda) of Albuquerque, NM, and Robert F (wife, Judy) Buss of Peoria, AZ; nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Betty loved God with all of her heart, accepting Jesus at Sunday School when she was 6 years old. She had a tender heart towards hurting and marginalized people, loved traveling (with the Army and pastoring assignments), continuing education (getting her BA after 21 years), biblical archeology, singing especially with her husband in church, taking walking tours in England and cruises with family, serving on committees in her local church, and faithfully remembering every family member's birthday and anniversary year after year! Her ashes will be interned in the Veterans' Cemetery in Phoenix Arizona.
