Mrs. Carol LeCras Abbott (85) of Daytona Beach passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Halifax Hospice in Port Orange, Florida.
Carol was born on July 3, 1931, in Columbus, Ohio. One of twins (sister Glade Koch) born to Harry and Hilda Schneider. She was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University and had a degree in Business. She married Edward George LeCras on September 4, 1954. They moved to area in 1959 and together purchased a small tax preparation business which grew into Edward G. LeCras, Accounting. They loved and worked together until his passing in 1989 (35 years). They had two children Timothy Dean LeCras (Laura Murphy) of South Daytona, grandson Logan Dean and Dawn Ellen LeCras Havird (Kurt Havird) of Lake City, grandsons Justin Chase (Jennifer Parker) and Joshua Caleb (Leah Parks) and great grandson Asa James. She married and is survived by Harry Abbott of Daytona Beach on April 6, 2002 and they enjoyed their families, church and travel (15 years).
Carol has been a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist of Daytona Beach for almost 60 years and has served in many capacities and particularly enjoyed teaching children of all ages in Sunday School. She began as a volunteer in Volusia County Schools and later became a Teacher's Aide at Westside Elementary School. She was a member of the Volusia County Christian Teachers Association and had enjoyed volunteering at the Halifax Humane Society. She will be missed by her many much loved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, and beloved friends.
Services and remembrances for Carol will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 11:00 am at Cardwell Summers Funeral Home in South Daytona. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First Church of Christ Scientists, Daytona Beach or the Halifax Humane Society or Halifax Hospice.
