Charles “Chuck” Milligan, a dedicated family man, respected business owner, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, at the age of 86.
Born on August 16, 1939, in Shinnston, West Virginia, Chuck was the beloved son of the late Charles Milligan and Nellie Brookover Milligan. Chuck’s early life was marked by a strong sense of duty and service, values that would guide him through every chapter of his life. He enlisted in the United States Army at a young age, serving with honor from August 27, 1955, to August 30, 1958. His military service instilled in him a deep respect for discipline and community, qualities that remained constant throughout his personal and professional endeavors.
On August 5, 1958, Chuck married the love of his life, Mathilde Spuck. Their long and devoted partnership was a testament to enduring love and commitment. Together, they built a strong and supportive family, raising four children: Judy Cerio (married to Andy Cerio), Sue Burbridge, Ken Milligan (married to Tammy Milligan), and Jeff Milligan (married to Becky Milligan). Chuck’s legacy continues through his 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
A resident of Edgewater, Florida, for many years, Chuck became a central figure in his community through both his professional and personal passions. As the owner of Chuck’s Auto Center in DeLand, Florida, he was known for his expertise, integrity, and genuine care for his customers. His approach to business reflected his character – hardworking, reliable, and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Chuck was also deeply committed to his community outside of his business pursuits. He was a longstanding member of the DeLand Masonic Lodge and St. John's Lodge #37 in DeLand. His involvement in these organizations demonstrated his dedication to values of fellowship, charity, and service, further enriching the lives of those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Mathilde Spuck; his daughters, Judy Cerio and Sue Burbridge; his sons, Ken Milligan and Jeff Milligan; his sons-in-law, Andy Cerio and his daughters-in-law, Tammy Milligan and Becky Milligan; his 11 grandchildren; and his 15 great-grandchildren.
