IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlotte
Charest
January 22, 1936 – April 17, 2024
Charlotte L. Charest, 88, joined her heavenly father on April 17, 2024, in Palm Coast, Florida.
Charlotte was born on January 22, 1936, in Manchester, NH, to Robert and Theresa Roy. She was united in marriage to Paul J. Charest, who preceded her in death in 2010. Charlotte is survived by her cherished sister, Louise Dycke, and brother-in-law, Arthur Dycke, along with nieces, nephews, and a host of loved ones scattered across the country, all of whom held her dear.
In remembrance, Charlotte is reunited in the embrace of heaven with her parents, Robert and Theresa Roy, her beloved husbands, Howard McCarthy and Paul Charest, her sister, Pauline Beaulieu King, and her brothers-in-law, Jean Beaulieu, and Don King. She will also reunite with her beloved feline companions who preceded her in passing.
Charlotte attended Presentation of Mary Academy and took her vows as a nun with the Presentation of Mary Sisters for 13 years. She later graduated with a master's degree in education from Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts. Charlotte dedicated 40 years of her life to teaching grades 1-3, with twenty-seven of those years spent at North Londonderry School in Londonderry, NH. Upon retiring in 1998, she relocated to Port Orange, FL.
She was a devoted parishioner of Epiphany Church in Port Orange and actively participated in church activities. While in NH, she attended St. Jude's Parish in Londonderry.
Charlotte enjoyed swimming, dancing, and music. Her hobbies included watercolor painting, teaching cardmaking classes, listening to oldies songs, and creating greeting cards. She had a deep affection for animals, particularly horses, dogs, and tuxedo cats. Charlotte was an incredibly generous person and her guiding advice to others was to "Be your true self and be kind."
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 11 at 11:00 am at the Church of the Epiphany, 201 Lafayette Street, Port Orange. Fr. John Bosco Maison will officiate with Fr. Karl Bergin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any animal shelter in Charlotte's memory. Charlotte will be interred in Mount Calvary Cemetery in New Hampshire.
