Clara L. Sacca, 98, 0f Port Orange, passed away peacefully on Sunday March 15, 2015 at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, FL. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday March 19, 2015 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel at Cardwell Baggett & Summers Funeral Home. A Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM til the Service begins on Thursday at the Funeral Home. Entombment will immediately follow the Service in Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on August 25, 1916 to the late Edmundo and Petra Nunez. At the age of 16 she moved to New York City. Then in 1979 she and her husband moved to this area. She was employed with the Defense Plant in Seattle, Washington until she became pregnant with her first child. She was a participant and teacher in the Duchess County extension program and a member of the Daytona Beach Garden Club. She made blankets for the Linus Club. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, quilting, and reading. Clara was also an extremely talented seamstress. Survivors include her son, Joseph E. (Marsha) of Winter Springs, FL; daughter, Mary Lynn (Michael) Eckert of Iowa City, IA; Three Grandchildren, Jennifer (Gordon) Gillespie of Lexington, SC, Amanda Sacca of Casselberry, FL and Adam (Ngaire Honey) Eckert of Nashville, TN; and One Great-Granddaughter, Olivia Sacca of Casselberry, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Rosario Sacca, MD, whom she married on June 6, 1943. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Josefino Serano, Ayda Perez, Edmundo Nunez, Raimundo Nunez, Gilberto Nunez, Roberto Nunez and Antonio Nunez.
