Cristus Antonopoulos, 87, passed away on September 27, 2014. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 6:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M with Trisagion Prayers at 6:30 P.M. at Cardwell, Baggett and Summers Funeral Home, 3571 S. Ridgewood Ave, Port Orange, FL 32127. A service will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Demetrius Greek Orthodox Church, 129 N. Halifax Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32118 followed by interment at Daytona Memorial Park. Cristus was born in 1927 in Rockaway Beach, New York to the late Vassili and Filomila Antonopoulos. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. Cristus was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 35 years and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed trips overseas with his wife to Skala Kephaloni, Greece where he enjoyed the beach and visiting with family and friends. Cristus was a man of simple pleasures, but he never simplified the love and devotion to his family. Cristus is preceded in death by his brother Sam. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Persefoni; children, William (Deborah) Antonopoulos, Filomela (Joseph) Marshall; grandchildren, Annie, Christopher, Alexis; great-grandson, Hudson and many loving cousins, nephews, and nieces.
