Don E. DeStaffino, 73, passed away on June 29, 2014. Don was born in 1940 in Gaffney, South Carolina. In the 1960's Don joined the United States Army and was station in Panama. Following his service, Don became a Canal Zone Police Officer and retired as a Sergeant in 1982. He then relocated with his family to Port Orange and worked in the maintenance department for the Volusia County School System for 10 years. Don enjoyed fishing, golfing, and riding his motorcycle in which he road all over the United States and Central America. Don was a member of the Panama Canal Society of Florida, attended the annual reunions, and would visit friends in Panama in February. He loved his family dearly, but adored his grandchildren. Don is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Sharon and his brother Norman. Those left to cherish Don's memory are his sons, Lewis E. DeStaffino, Michael (Toni) DeStaffino, Patrick (Susan) DeStaffino; grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Charlie, and Wyatt; ex-wife and dear friend, Beth Parmlee.
