Obituary

Donald "Don" Roy Wolfe, 63, of Daytona Beach passed away on March 25, 2015 at his residence. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 4675 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Raymond O'Leary, pastor emeritus, officiating. Don was born on March 29, 1951 in Pittsburgh, PA., to the late Richard and Delsie Wolfe. He graduated from Duncan U. Fletcher High School in Neptune, FL and then graduated from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education. He also attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Don was a lifeguard with the American Red Cross Volunteers Life Saving Corps for ten years beginning the summer of 1967 serving the last two as captain. He received many accommodations including a Presidential Citation for the lives he saved. He loved the time he spent with the Corps and was proud of their accomplishments. He moved from Jacksonville Beach to Palatka where he was a morning disc jockey and sold radio advertising. He also sold radio advertising in Ormond Beach for I-100 radio station, eventually moving to Brownsville, Texas where he managed two radio stations. Don relocated to Port Orange in 1991 and began his career with TCI Cablevision (now Brighthouse Networks) as an advertising executive. He also worked as a radio sales person and dragon slayer at Black Crow Media and later created D&L Advertising and Marketing of Daytona Beach. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Hope, the current President of Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, a long time member of the Port Orange/South Daytona Rotary Club, a member of the Florida Public Relations Association-Volusia/Flagler Chapter and a member of the Republican Club of Daytona Beach. Don advocated for those receiving treatment at the Regional Oncology Center of Daytona Beach and supported the Rodehever Boys Ranch in Palatka. He enjoyed cruising, spending time with his children and family, fishing, reading, working in the yard and golfing. Survivors include his wife, Lori Summers Wolfe; daughter, Megan C. Wolfe of Port Orange; son, David A. Wolfe of Port Orange; step-son, Christopher (Kimberly) Ramey of Tampa; 3 sisters Delsie "Sherry" Dugan of Melbourne, Dureene (Buck) Moore of Ft. Wayne, IN., Dawn Lynne (John) Kmiec of Biloxi, MS. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard, mother, Delsie and brother David.
