Donna Jo Fitzgerald, born October 3, 1957, in Parsons, West Virginia, died June 25, 2008. She graduated from Kingwood High School, Wolfeboro, N.H., in 1975, where she was crowned Homecoming Carnival Queen. She graduated with high honors. She then moved to Springfield, Mass., and attended Springfield Technical Community College, graduating with honors with a degree in teaching. She then graduated from Westfield State College, Westfield, Mass., summa cum laude with a degree in criminal justice.

She moved to Daytona Beach in 1985 where she made her home. Donna was currently employed for 13 years as a correctional officer at the Tomoka Correctional Institution. She also worked part time for special events for the Daytona Beach International Speedway during Race Week and Bike Week.

Donna was preceded in death by her father, Donald "Zeke" Shure, Springfield, Vt. She leaves her son, Kyle Jon Antonelli, Daytona Beach; her mother, Joanne Shure Dunn; her brother, Donald D. Shure; and her sister, Dana L. Shure, Wolfeboro, N.H. She also leaves her grandmother, Louise Smith Kovach, Parsons, W.Va.

Donna had a great passion for life. She loved the beach. Her greatest treasures were her son and her friends and her family. She had great compassion for others and loved to help people as she had a heart of gold.

Her life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at the Basilica of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 317 Mullally Street, Daytona Beach, 386-252-5422. Her beautiful smile and infectious laughter will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
