Donna K. Walker, 68, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was born in Derby, Connecticut on February 1, 1947 to Earle and Doris Kennedy. Donna was born and raised in southern Connecticut and attended college at Drew University northern New Jersey, followed by graduate school at the University of Delaware, earning two degrees in English. After two years as a college instructor, she entered the publishing field as a proofreader. She worked for WB Saunders Company in Philadelphia where she learned the arts of editing and indexing and worked for a time as a writer for a laboratory medicine dictionary. She was making plans to change companies and move to a new area. When she asked Bill's opinion about the move, he, answered, "I think you should marry me." So she informed her prospective employer that she had a better offer, and no, they couldn't match it. Donna has dealt with deteriorating vision since 1989. As she thought about what she might be able to do with little or no vision, she realized that people frequently shared their problems with her and she counseled them "by the seat of her pants." She decided to learn how to counsel from the Bible and attended a two-year program at Westminster Theological Seminary outside Philadelphia. She then began a counseling ministry at her church. In doing that work she felt she was "in the center of God's will." Donna has also taught adult Sunday School classes and Bible studies and found the interaction with others to be mentally stimulating and spiritually and emotionally nurturing. She found the love and fellowship of New Hope's people to be a gift and a blessing that she cherished greatly. She has found a new joy and exuberance in her faith in Christ through the ministry of New Hope. Survived in death by her husband of 30 years, Bill Walker, Daughter, Melinda (Tom) Matula, Son, Will (Christine) Walker, Sister, Marian Kennedy, Brother in Law, Robert (Lenora) Walker, Grandchildren: Aria Walker, Alden Walker, Asher Walker, Liam Matula, Cousins: Barbara Bantimba, Alan Culverwell, Marcia Young. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 1675 Taylor Road, Port Orange, Florida 32128
