Douglas, formerly of Brockport, New York, died peacefully on May 12 th , 2023 after a long illness. Born on July 4,1937 in Rome, New York, Doug was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and a friend to many. Doug is pre-deceased by his son, Jeffrey and his parents George and Lena Bell. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Evelyn (Thompson) Bell, daughter Kristin (Terence Brown), daughter Kerry, grandchildren Anna and Tyler, brother Jonathan (Nancy), niece Erin (Michael Rowe) and nephew Kevin (Amy Van Horn).

Doug was raised on a farm in Clarkson, New York and graduated from Brockport High School, Class of 1955. He attended Cornell University and was employed by Eastman Kodak in Rochester for 32 years.  Doug was active in the community serving the First Baptist Church in Brockport and was a member of the Brockport Central School Board of Education for 10 years serving as President for 2 years.

In retirement, Doug and Evie relocated to their cabin home on Keuka Lake and eventually Port Orange, Florida. Doug and Evie were avid golfers belonging to Keuka Lakeside Golf Course and later as members and residents at Crane Lakes Golf Community in Port Orange. Doug also served as an Elder in Port Orange Presbyterian Church.

Doug loved life and was the happiest outdoors on the farm and on the golf course and with people, especially family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, 11:00 am at the Port Orange Presbyterian Church.  In lieu of flowers, the Bell family would appreciate donations to the Port Orange Presbyterian Church ( https://popreschurch.com/ )
