Obituary

Earnestine H. Pearson, 76, of Daytona Beach passed away peacefully at her home on February 12, 2014. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 12:00 P.M at Cardwell, Baggett and Summers Funeral Home, 3571 S. Ridgewood Ave, Port Orange FL 32129. Gathering will begin at 11:00 A.M. Earnestine was born on March 23, 1937 in Bainbridge, Georgia. Daughter of the late Walter and Nancy C. Hodges. Eventually moving to Holly Hill, Florida. A student of Rigby Jr. High, Ormond Beach, Campbell High School, Daytona Beach, and a major accomplishment, graduating from the International Seminary. Earnestine was affiliated with many churches in the Daytona Beach area, such as, Shiloh Baptist, House of Prayer, Church of God in Ormond Beach, and lastly St. Paul Missionary Baptist. She wanted to return back to her home church and give back because of her appreciation of the teachings of the Lord. Cousin Bennie and Rosetta Gadson were inspirations to her as a girl in the church. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Lamar Pearson. Earnestine worked with her husband for many years in the grocery business, eventually becoming owners of a successful business with loyal employees for many years. Earnestine enjoyed sewing, decorating, cooking with her family their favorite dishes during the holidays, shopping for shoes, and most of all she loved to share the Word of God with those that were lost. Ambassador Pearson as she was known, had a radio broadcast weekly on WAPN, her messages were called "Divine Nuggets" and she started the her show with the song "The King is Coming." Earnestine sensed an urgency to reach the lost due to the King coming soon. She is preceded in death by her son, Darryl Edwards and sister, Ivey Perry. Those left to cherish Earnestine's memory are her children, Sharlene Howard of Albany, Georgia, Irvin (Deborah) Edwards of Daytona Beach, Karen (David) Villa of Daytona Beach, Reggie (Sara) Edwards of Mankato, Minnesota; sister, Otha (Woodrow) Williams; brother, Thelogust (Edith) Hodges; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jasmine, Irvin Jr., Raymond, Randy, Shana, Anthony, Noah, Christian, Emanuel; 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, caregiver and friend of the family, Tonya Floyd, we thank you for your love toward our mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Halifax Humane Society.
