Edward Stokes Shemeley, born on August 12, 1923 in Camden, NJ to Elwell and Alice Shemeley, passed
away December 4, 2020 in Port Orange, FL. Ed was one of 10 siblings all previously deceased. He is
survived by his 3 children, 8 grand children, 4 great grand children and many loving nieces and
nephews.
Ed married his sweetheart Beatrice Hazzard shortly after returning from active duty in WW II on
9/16/44 in Camden, NJ. They were married for 44 years until Bea passed away in 1988 in
Cherry Hill, NJ.
Ed found love a second time visiting Samoa and married Sylvia Cohen from Miami, FL in 1992.
They lived in St. Augustine, FL until Sylvia passed away in 2018.
Ed enlisted in the Marine Corp after the bombing of Pearl Harbor at the age of 17. He was a
proud Marine for 4 year and bravely fought in the battle of Guadalcanal.
Ed worked for Gulf and Western Co. for 40 years. His passions were music, softball, playing the
piano and being around family and friends.
There will be a memorial service in Cherry Hill, NJ in the Spring.
