Eleanor I. Fischer, 100, of Port Orange, passed away on October 21, 2012 at Emeritus Senior Living. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Epiphany Catholic Church, 201 Lafayette Ave., Port Orange. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Eleanor was born September 12. 1912 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to George and Ida (Kitch) Wiegand. She was a homemaker and a parishioner at Epiphany Catholic Church. She was a member of BPOE Ladies Aux., played for nine championship years on St. Anthony's Church basketball team; she also enjoyed dancing, fishing, and traveling. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Edward Fischer in 2000 and by her son, Edward Fischer in 1986, by her two brothers, Claude and George Wiegand, Jr. as well as her sister, Angela. Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Donald) Adams, of Lancaster, PA; four grandchildren, Douglas, Lisa, Laurie, and Julie; as well as thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to one of the Elks Charitable foundations or to Vitas Hospice.
