Elizabeth F. Hess, 95, of Port Orange, FL, passed away Tuesday January 27, 2015 at Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Port Orange. She was born on April 3, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York to John and Josephine Reither. She moved with her family to Valley Stream, NY, and married Raymond J. Hess. It was there where they started their family and later moved to Amity Harbor, Long Island NY. After Ray's retirement they moved to Port Orange, FL, to be near her children Barbara (George) Meyerhoff of Port Orange and Doug (Sandra) Hess of Summerville SC. After Ray passed away in 1975, "GRAMMY", as she was known to everyone, spent her time enjoying her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in South Daytona since 1973. She was involved in LWML and devoted much of her time to her church. Grammy's greatest legacy was passing on her Faith in the Lord, her happy, smiling content personality and her infectious laugh to four generations of children. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday January 31, 2015 in the Chapel at Cardwell Baggett & Summers Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the service begins at 1:00p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral service at Daytona Memorial Park. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Raymond J. Hess. Survivors include her son, Douglas R. (Sandra) Hess of Summerville, SC; daughter, Barbara (George) Meyerhoff of Port Orange, FL; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Welch of Odessa FL, Douglas (Lindsey) Meyerhoff of Port Orange, FL, Tamara (Rick) Whited of Summerville, SC and Eric (Rachel) of Goose Creek, SC; seven great-grandchildren, Peyton, Bo, Georgia, Ashton, Madison, Rickey, and Haley.
