Evelyn (Evie) Bell, formerly of Brockport, New York, died peacefully on December 4, 2023, at 86 years old. Born June 12, 1937, in Brockport, New York, Evie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to many. Evie is pre-deceased by her husband, Douglas, her son, Jeffrey, and her parents Ernest and Fern Thompson. She is survived by her daughter Kristin (Terence Brown), daughter Kerry, grandchildren Anna and Tyler, brother-in-law Jonathon (Nancy) Bell, niece Erin (Michael Rowe) and nephew Kevin (Amy Van Horn).
Evie grew up in the town of Brockport, NY and graduated from Brockport High School class of 1955. She went to the Rochester Institute of Technology where she received an associate degree in chemistry and went to work at R.T. French Company in Rochester, NY. Evie then fulfilled her dream of having 3 children and stayed at home to raise a family. Then in 1975 she went to work at Avon Products as a Sales Representative and then District Manager for 18 years before retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Twig Association for Lakeside Memorial Hospital in Brockport, NY.
In retirement Evie and Doug relocated to Keuka Lake, NY and eventually Port Orange, Florida. Evie and Doug were avid golfers belonging to Keuka Lakeside Golf Club and later as members of the Crane Lakes Golf Community in Port Orange, FL. Evie was a member of the Port Orange Presbyterian Church where she volunteered with the children's care and summer vacation bible school. She also volunteered for the Halifax Hospice in Port Orange, FL. Evie used her expertise with accounting and assisted at the AARP to help prepare taxes for those in need. She was also a loyal member in her community participating in the Crane Lakes Performing Arts.
Evie enjoyed life. She was happiest when she was with her children and grandchildren along with her entire family and friends. Her friends and family would describe Evie as dedicated, kind, and supportive.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, 11:00 am at the Port Orange Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the Bell family would appreciate donations to the Port Orange Presbyterian Church https://popreschurch.com.
