Freda L. Grubbs, 83, of Port Orange, the matriarch of the Grubbs family passed away on March 27, 2013 with her family at her side. A memorial service will be held on Monday April 1, 2013 at 7:00 P.M at Cardwell Funeral Home, 3571 S. Ridgewood Ave, Port Orange, FL 32129. She was predeceased by her husband Bill and son Gary Grubbs. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, but raised in St. Augustine, FL, before moving to Port Orange, FL. She and her husband owned Grubbs Nursery and Landscaping. Freda and her daughter Gwen, owned and operated Port Orange Foliage and Flower Hut for over 50 years, and Freda was a very talented floral designer. She enjoyed fishing and boating, however, her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children, Captain Tad (Susan) Grubbs of Key Colony, Florida, Gwen McDowell of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren, David (Lisa) Grubbs of Port Orange, FL, Melanie (Chris) Tomlinson of Port Orange, FL, Robbie Grubbs of Port Orange, FL, Jason McDowell, Erin (Jerry) Martin; great-grandchildren, Marley and Chris Tomlinson, Taylor and Allison Grubbs, Lucy, Millie, and Sidney Martin; loving niece Freda (Robert) Pennington; great nieces, Misty and Carrie Pennington. She will be greatly missed. Her family wishes to extend a great heartfelt thank you to the many nurses and aids of Hospice of Volusia and Flagler Counties who made Freda's days comfortable. In lieu of remembrances, donations may be made in Freda's name to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
