Harriet C. Chreest, 89, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2014. Born in Middletown, Connecticut, she lived most of her life in Hartford, Connecticut, moving to Florida when she retired. Harriet was one of the first female underwriters at the Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford. She appreciated art, found pleasure in music, and loved books, amassing an extensive library. Her greatest joy was in giving to others. She touched and enriched so many lives with her kindness, generosity, compassion, and Eucharistic Ministry. Her memory is cherished by her Goddaughter Marilyn Yacavone with whom she had a special and loving relationship, Tom Yacavone, Tamara Lobravico and husband Peter and son Charlie, Jason Yacavone and wife Carisa Schneider and their children Dylan and Alexa. She also leaves long time friend and care giver Elaine Stacy. Harriet was predeceased by her brother, Christopher Chreest. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 19 at 11:00 am at All Saints Lutheran Church in Port Orange. Burial will be private at a later date in Hartford. In lieu of flowers or donations an act of kindness to perpetuate her memory is requested.
