With a heavy heart we are saddened to say Hank passed away suddenly on October 29, 2014 at the age of 89 at the home of Martha (Marty) Andrews, his companion of 15 years at his side in Port Orange, FL. He was a condo resident of Daytona Beach, FL for 30 years, but was formerly of East Setauket, Long Island, New York. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen and devoted father of Thomas and the late Patricia. Dear brother of John Kelly and his wife, Bernice and the late Robert. Devoted husband and loving father to his second wife, Ann Kelly, and children. Daughter, Kathleen and husband Bill Bates and their five sons (all firemen) and their wives, Terry (Linda) Coyle, Michael (Gloria) Coyle, Bryan (Karen) Coyle, Danny (Lori) Coyle and Kevin Coyle. Also survived by his many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army in Europe during WWII. He earned five battle stars on the other side of the world from Japan landing in France twelve days after D-Day. He spent much of his combat time with the third army which was led by the legendary General George S. Patton. After the war, Hank worked for the Tri Burroughs Bridge and Tunnel authority in the mid 1950's until retiring in 1984. Hank was a great and proud Port Orange Eagle member. He just loved life. He was associated with the High performance and discovery travel for many years. His greatest pleasure was cruising. He was a caring, loving and giving man. He will be remembered by the many people he touched during his life. For family and friends, visitation and viewing took place Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Cardwell Baggett & Summers Funeral Home from 7-9PM. Second viewing took place for family and friends Wednesday, November 5, 2014 2-4PM and 7-9 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Valley Stream, New York. Funeral took place Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Interment with military honors was held at Calverton National Cemetery.
