Howard A. Scherer, passed away on October 7, 2014 in Port Orange, Florida, formerly of Farmingdale, New York. He was born in Corona, New York on July 11, 1915. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII and moved to Florida in 1973. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Farmingdale, Hampton Bays, and Coram on Long Island, ex Postmaster of Coram and retired from the Postal Service in 1973.. He was an ex-chief of the Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Department, life member Hook, Ladder and Hose Co. #1,life member of the Volunteer & Exempt Firemen's Benevolent Association of Farmingdale, life member of the American Legion Post 270, life member of the VFW Post 4282. Howard is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth. Those left to cherish his memory are his brother Kenneth Scherer; nephew, John (Jack), wife Judith of Farmingdale, New York; niece, Susan Iovino, husband Frank of Henderson, Nevada; 3 great-nieces, 3 great-nephews, and 2 great great-nephews.
