Irene Matava Bachman, 92, was born on December 7, 1929 in Unionville, Connecticut. She passed away on August 16, 2022 in Port Orange, Florida. Irene was predeceased by her parents: Paul J. Matava and Maria Valigursky Matava, by her husband Lawrence (Joe Bach; Peach) Bachman, and by her siblings, Robert, Suzanne, Rosalie, Elizabeth, Tom, Edward, Mary and Margaret.
She is survived by her daughter Pamela (Costas) Liakopoulos, grandson David (Wethersfield), brother Paul (Jerry) Matava (Burlington) many nieces, nephews and friends.
Irene was married in 1950, and travelled to many places around the world. She was a hard worker and excelled in everything she tried: knitting, skiing, golf, volunteer work at church, the VFW, she was a Brownie leader and the co-director of the Forestville Drum Corps.
Irene was a communicant of the Church of St. Matthew, Forestville, Connecticut, and of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church located in Port Orange, Florida.
Irene retired from Pratt & Whitney, Southington CT as General Supervisor of Overhaul & Repair Operations. She moved to Florida in 2001.
Arrangements are at the convenience of the family.
