Obituary

Irene Flora Pehr (99), treasured mother of nine, passed peacefully at the Bridgeview nursing home in Ormond Beach Florida on June 11,2023. She leaves behind her children: Frank J Pehr, Irene L Pehr, Janet Pehr, Susan Biron, Nancy and husband Norman Lemonik, Rosemary and husband Paul Voegeli, Teresa Pehr, John and wife Tina Pehr, son-in-law William Callahan, and a dear friend and "Frankies runner" who was like another daughter, Sandy Bassett. She was pre-deceased by her precious daughter Elizabeth Ann Callahan, and beloved husband of sixty-seven and a half years Frank Sigmond Pehr. She leaves nineteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, two sisters-in-law Jeannie and Margaret Ullman, and a sister-in-law who was like a sister, Florence Bessenhoffer. She was pre-deceased by so many dear family and friends, including her parents (William and Alida Crochetiere), two brothers and their wives (Norman and Gladys Crochetiere and Billy and Erna Crochetiere), two sisters-in-law and their husbands (Mitzi and Rudy Pflugler and Theresa and Louis Pflugler), a number of brothers-in-law (Eddie and Johnny Ullman and Leo Bessenhoffer), a daughter-in-law Susan, a godchild Diane, and a nephew Clifford. She is also pre-deceased by her lifelong friends Betty and Pomp Lentini, Fred and Lucille Krasnovsky, Barbara Voegeli, Bob and Chloe Patterson, and her retired-life friends Donna Rae, Alice, Bea and Sid. Our families had many good times together.

Irene was a devoted mother and homemaker, a WWII veteran's wife, and assisted in her husband's business office for Pehr Designed Kitchens and Pehr Construction Company in Cheshire, CT for over 30 years. Irene was a life-long avid gardener, a very "creative" hand-and-foot card player, and a talented water color artist and oil painter. Irene was also a member of the women's auxiliary of the Cheshire Rotary Club for many years. Irene and Frank fulfilled their life-long dream of retiring to Florida in 1979, where many of their children migrated after them.

Donations can be made to St. Jude, or visit www.cardwellfuneral.com to plant a tree. There will be a private memorial service for the family at Prince of Peace Church.
