John A. Barretto, age 82, passed away on October 29, 2015 at home. He was born in Manila, Philippines on May 26, 1933. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and ran a successful insurance broker business in California. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, of 57 years, and a sister, Helene Reese, of Tucson, AZ. He is predeceased by his only son, Michael, who passed away June 5, 1996. He enjoyed college football ("ND" team), horse racing, soccer, dog racing and an endless love of his family's fantastic cooking. He leaves cousins Josephine "Jo" (Dr. Ed Favis) and their 4 children; Dolores (Lolly) Flaherty; Marjorie Campbell and her 5 children; and other close relatives in Florida in addition to his much loved relatives and friends in California. A celebration of his life will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1014 N. Halifax Ave., Daytona Beach, Fl 32118 at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Cancer Center and/or Disabled Veterans Nat'l Foundation. Interment will be in California.
