John Alexander Remsen, 94, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away on May 28, 2014. Mr. Remsen was the son of Alexander and Dorothy (Binns) Remsen, born November 9, 1919 in Hornell, New York. He was the first of 7 children and grew up in Angelica, New York. Mr. Remsen graduated from Wilsonan High School, Angelica, NY in 1937. He graduated from Hobart College, Geneva, NY in 1941 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa Society. Moved to Rochester, NY in 1941 and worked at Gleason Works for 41 years where he traveled all over the world on jobs. John married Jean Boardman on October 12, 1941, she precedes him in death. He married Dee Klumbach Ellwanger on June 8, 1984. They moved to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1989 and are members of Crossroads Baptist Church. Those left to cherish John's memory are his wife, Dee; Son William of Rochester, NY; daughters, Georgia (Louis) Buccini, Canandaigua, NY, Joan (Vincent) Burkis and Barbara (Gerry) Wunch both of Rochester, NY; brother, Stephen; sisters, Dorothy, Mary and Anne; step-children, Kenneth Ellwanger of Nicaragua, Richard (Pat) Ellwanger, formerly of Daytona Beach and Mark (Kathy) Ellwanger of Charleston, South Carolina. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
