John Joseph Roth, a resident of Ormond Beach, Florida, died on December 17, 2014. He was 91. He was born on October 11, 1923 in Mount Vernon, New York to the late John Roth and Marion (McSherry) Roth. John was a World War II veteran, serving his country in the Navy. He graduated from New York University (School of Engineering) with a Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering. John moved to Granby, Connecticut and was employed by Combustion Engineering, Inc. in Windsor, Connecticut. John was a licensed Professional Engineer and received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hartford. John enjoyed skiing and golfing and was the consummate "hands on engineer" who designed and built many things, including a home in Vermont (as a series of weekend projects). He was always willing to lend a hand, with a kind smile. John is predeceased by his wife of over 55 years, Mary (McClernon) Roth. He is survived by his children: John F. Roth and his wife, Sarah; Robert Roth; Eileen Roth; and Thomas Roth and his wife, Stephanie. John is survived by his brother Robert Roth of Georgia. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Victoria (and her husband, Ryan), Michael (and his wife, Eileen), Aimee, Alexander, Veronika, Cassandra (and her husband, Dave), Margaret, and Hannah; and five great-grandchildren: Jeremiah, Isaiah, Faith, Jayden and Anthony. He was predeceased by his sisters Irene Gleason and Helen Fischer. At John's request, the family will not hold a visitation however a Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on December 23, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes, 201 University Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32118 In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Ormond Beach Citizen's Center, 351 Andrews Street, Ormond Beach, Florida 32174.
