A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joseph John Cirone, 98, of Port Orange Florida on Monday, March 16, at 8:30a.m.at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 4675 S. Clyde Morris Boulevard, Port Orange, FL. Mr. Cirone will be buried at a later date, in a family plot at Southview Cemetery in North Adams, Massachusetts. Joseph passed away peacefully on March 4, 2015 at his home, attended by his loving wife Connie. He was born on December 15, 1916 in North Adams, MA to Anthony and Mary Cirone. He was a proud WWII veteran of the US NAVY, serving in the South Pacific on the destroyer, USS Nicholas. Joseph retired after 30 years as a pipe fitter at Sprague Electric Company in North Adams. He moved to Port Orange in 1981 with his wife after residing in Cheshire,MA for many years. Mr. Cirone was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, VFW Post 3282 in Port Orange, The Port Orange Travel Club, The American-Italian Society in New Smyrna Beach, and The Sociable Seniors of Our Lady of Hope. In his early years, Joe was an amateur boxer and remained an avid boxing fan. He also was a licensed pilot. He was well known for his woodworking skills and creative solutions to construction problems. Joseph maintained a long interest in local, state and national politics. He was skilled at winning domino games and loved playing the Florida Lottery. He also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and relaxing at home with family members and his many friends. He is survived by his his loving wife of 59 years, Connie. He also had many nieces and nephews who enjoyed his loving ways. Joseph was preceded in death by his sisters, Rose Jones and Columbia Taft and brothers Albert and Anthony Cirone. Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Cirone's memory to a charity of one's choice.
