Karen Denise Butterton , 63, of Deland, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Halifax Health located in Orange City, Florida. Karen was born on October 31, 1957 in Los Angeles, California and her life path led her to work, ultimately as a Senior Director, in the healthcare industry for over 30 years - in the administrative offices with Apria, Abbey Vital Air, Liberty Health, Total Pharmaceutical Care, Barnes Healthcare, and Acelis Healthcare under the umbrella of Abbott.
Karen was very active with both the Women's Ministry and Life Group Ministry for over 40 years, as well as with prayer and worship teams. She and her husband David also helped support the Haiti Mission Ministry with The Journey. Karen's active spiritual memberships include: The Lords Church in Bellflower, CA over 6 years 1980-1987; Hope Chapel in Hermosa Beach, CA 1987-1996; Church of our Living God Woodstock, GA 1996-2003; Calvary Chapel Ormond Beach, FL 2003-2005; Calvary Chapel Deltona, FL 2005-2009; and The Journey Orange City, FL 2009-2021.
Karen is survived by her husband, David Warren Butterton; they would have celebrated their 34 th wedding anniversary on October 10, 2021. She is also survived by their 15 year old son, Nathan Samuel Elijah Butterton. In addition, she leaves behind two brothers and two sisters: Mark Ayers and his wife Terri; Kathy Galland and her husband Chet; Lonnie Ayers and his wife Lissette; and Georgia Waggoner and her husband Donn. Karen is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Jocelyn Ayers, Lauren Ayers, Shane Ayers, Roy Galland, Leslie Kennehan, Wesley Waggoner, Isaac Waggoner, and Beth Waggoner. And, Karen is survived by her cousins: Loressa McGowen and Jeff McGowen.
A Memorial Service celebrating Karen's life with The Lord on earth and now graduating into God's kingdom forever will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at The Journey, 975 E Graves Ave, Orange City, FL 32763. Please join us online via this link: Karen Butterton Memorial Service
A second Memorial Service will be held for her inurnment at 2:45 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Daytona Memorial Park South, 1425 Bellevue Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114
