Laura "Emo" Murphy, 84, passed away suddenly on June 2, 2013. A funeral service in her honor will be held on Saturday June 8, 2013 at 2:00 P.M at Westminster By-The-Sea, 3221 South Peninsula Drive, Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, a reception will follow. Interment will take place on Tuesday June 11, 2013 at 12:30 P.M at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Emo was a kind and gentle person that would give anything to lend a hand to others. She was a volunteer at the VA Clinic in Daytona Beach and when her daughter was attending school, it was typical for Emo to participate in school functions. She loved to play bridge and attend card making classes at Westminster By-The-Sea. Working outside in her yard gave her great pleasure, as did cooking for family and friends. She was also an avid reader and always kept score at the ballgames. Emo was a proud supporter of the Military Officers Association of America. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, spoiling her grandson Logan, and especially working with her husband Chuck in the Florida State League of Professional Baseball Clubs. Because of her dedication to the league, Emo was the first female inducted into the Florida State League Hall of Fame in 2011. Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 53 years, Chuck Murphy; daughter, Laura (Tim) LeCras; grandson, Logan LeCras; brother, Phonso Donaldson; sister-in-law, Marge Donaldson and their families. She will be missed my many friends and neighbors. She is now at peace with her mother, Eunice Donaldson and her late brother Talmadge Donaldson. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Florida State League Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 349, Daytona Beach, FL 32115. Condolences may be shared with the family at . Arrangements are under the careful direction of Cardwell Funeral Home.
