It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Laura Henderson Vaughan on May 21, 2015. Laura is survived by her three children and their spouses: Cindy and Bruce Simmons, Bob and Debbie Vaughan, Kathy and Stephen Cejner; six grandchildren: Jenny, Steven, and Crisi Simmons, Noah Vaughan, Lauren and Blake Cejner; and her dear friend Lenny Schneir. Laura was an artist, a poet, a writer of children's books and plays. She designed costumes and sets for the Daytona Playhouse, Ormond Players, DBCC, and CMT Workshop. She served as President of the Local and Florida State Association of National League of PEN Women, was a lifetime member of the Daytona Playhouse and a member of the Halifax River Yacht Club. Laura was always so proud of all of her children and grandchildren, real and "adopted", and will be honored by many of them at a musical celebration of life on June 23, 2015, at 6 p.m., at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Laura Vaughan Scholarship Fund for CMT c/o the CMT Workshop, P.O. Box 731797, Ormond Beach, FL 32173. Laura believed in and loved the arts for young people. Laura will be deeply missed.
