Obituary

Lillian B. (Lamoureux) Martin, 93, formerly of Golf View Blvd. in South Daytona, died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Port Orange. She was a resident of The Gardens Health and Rehab Center, Daytona Beach.

She was born in Leominster, Massachusetts on July 1, 1923, a daughter of Joseph Lamoureux and Mary Gonyea. She moved to Daytona Beach in 1965.

Prior to her move to Florida, Lillian worked as a bookkeeper in Massachusetts. She earned an LPN Certificate from Daytona Beach Community College in 1971. She was employed in the Emergency Room at Halifax Medical Center for 17 years, retiring in 1990. Upon her retirement she was a Hospice volunteer. She was a communicant for many years at St. Paul's Basilica in Daytona Beach. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, sewing, knitting and thrift shopping.

She is predeceased by her husband, Norman L. Martin; her sister, May Rose Bergeron; her brother, Henry Lamoureux; and grandson, Todd Martin.

She is survived by 2 sonsNorman L. Martin, Jr. and his wife Linda of Edgewater, and Thomas Martin and his wife Cheri of DeLand; a granddaughter, Tracy Merrick and her husband Sherwin of Edgewater; 2 grandsons, Thomas N. Martin and Wesley C. Martin of DeLand; a great granddaughter, Hannah Oyler of Edgewater, 2 great grandsons, Caleb Oyler of DeLand and Jaxon Merrick of Edgewater; a brother, Edmond Lamoureux and his wife Claire of Leominster, MA; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cardwell, Baggett & Summers Funeral Home, 301 Big Tree Rd., South Daytona. There will be no calling hours.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 998 Father Donlan Dr., New Smyrna Beach on Friday, June 2 at 11:00 a.m. Father Francis Nelson, C.Ss.R. will officiate.

A private burial will take place at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Ave., Daytona Beach at a later date.
