Obituary

Marilyn Suzanne Wheaton passed away peacefully at her home in Port Orange, FL at the age of 86 on February 23, 2021.  She was born on June 23, 1936 to John and Bertha Rudolphi in rural Wendelin, Illinois where she grew up.  She graduated from Noble High School in 1954.

She married Tony Wheaton in 1956 at Wendelin, IL.  Before her marriage she worked for a short time at Wineland & Todd Attorneys in Flora, IL.  Marilyn and Tony lived in Quincy, IL, Decatur IL, and Syracuse, NY, where Tony became Branch Manager of the Bryant-Carrier office.  For many years, Marilyn operated her own craft business and displayed them at countless numbers of art shows.  Tony retired in 1985 and two years later they moved to Port Orange.  They were members of PORT Travel Club and enjoyed many trips.

Marilyn was a faithful member of the Church of Epiphany in Port Orange where she was a Lector.  She was a member of Epiphany Catholic Women's Organization and was active in their social activities.  She was also a member of the Port Orange Lady Elks.

Marilyn is survived by daughter Lisa Schimp of Port Orange, son Gary Wheaton (Stephanie) of Jeffersonville, New York.  Five grandchildren, Nicole Wheaton, Katie Boehner, Tiffany Thompson, Ruby Wheaton, Lillie Wheaton; greatgrandchildren Anthony Dodd, Xander Anderson and Maddox Anderson.  She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Uebinger of Flora, IL, and brother Richard (Meredith) Rudolphi of Wendelin, IL.  Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; her parents; and siblings, Melvin Rudolphi, infant brother Raymond, Rudolphi,  Herman Rudolphi, and Louise Sandstrom.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Marilyn will be held on Friday March 24, 2023 at 10:00am at the Church of Epiphany, 201 Lafayette St., Port Orange, FL  32127.  Inurnment will follow the service at Woodland Cemetery, located next to the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Church of Epiphany for masses for the repose of Marilyn's soul; or to the church of your choice.  The care of Marilyn Wheaton has been entrusted to Cardwell, Baggett & Summers Funeral Home.  Condolences for Marilyn's family may be shared on the online guestbook at www.cardwellfuneral.com .
