Merriettice Andrus, born on August 19, 1943, in Jefferson City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Merriettice’s long life was marked by strength, warmth, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. The eldest of seven siblings—she had five sisters and one brother—Merriettice’s sense of responsibility, humor, and unique wisdom were cherished by her family from the time she was a young girl in Jefferson City. Throughout her life, she honored her roots while embracing every stage with grace and compassion.

She is survived by her beloved children: Angela & Salvatore Daleo of FL, Tracey & James Daleo of GA, Christopher & Robin Andrus of NJ, James Andrus of NJ, Anthony Erekat of FL, and the late Alysa Andrus of FL. Merriettice was the loving Grandmother of 16 who called her Grandy. And she was the Proud Great-Grandmother of 4 who also called her Grandy.

Merriettice’s journey was notable not just for the relationships she nurtured, but for the values she embodied. Compassion was at the core of her being—extended not only to her family and friends, but to all those who crossed her path. As the eldest sibling, she was often a guiding light, shaping the bonds that held her family together. Her wisdom and warmth were foundations on which many relied across generations.
