Obituary

Michael G. Zukas, born August 1, 1937, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2014. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M at Church of the Epiphany, 201 Lafayette Street, Port Orange, FL 32127. Michael retired from the United States Army as a Master Sergeant after 24 years of service. He served in Vietnam and was stationed at many locations throughout the United States and overseas. He was a member of the VFW Post #3282 of Port Orange. Mike always had a big smile and a great sense of humor. He loved to go bowling, fishing, playing board games with his family (Scrabble), playing poker with his friends, attending the dog races, and bird watching, especially hummingbirds. Michael was an excellent cook and offered top notch mimosas and margaritas. He was the life of the party. Michael is preceded in death by his sons, David B. Zukas, Phillip G. Zukas, and Michael G. Zukas, Jr; brother, Charles Zukas; sister, Sue Zukas. Those left to cherish Michael's memory are his wife of 58 years, Rosemarie; children, Michael (Lonnie) Zukas and Marianne (Bob) Booth; sisters, Janet Chaney and Vera Terry; grandchildren, Autumn Hyder, Ashleigh Plummer, Lauren Zukas, and Bryanna Zukas.
