Obituary

Mike passed away with his wife of 47 years, Sherrie, and his furry best friend, Yoda, at his side on November 4th after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
He was born in Havanna, Cuba to Miguel and Aurora Garcia and came to the U.S. at age 7, when Castro came to power. He grew up and attended St. John's University on Long Island NY. He met Sherrie there in 1973 and moved to Florida in 1974.
Mike worked for 40 years at Ernie Green Industries. He loved playing basketball with his friends at the Y and Rec Center. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed attending games as well as watching them on TV – Go Braves! His other passion was listening to rock music and attending concerts.
He is predeceased by his parents, Miguel and Aurora and sister Ary, as well as several well-loved Aunts and Uncles. In addition to Sherrie, Mike is survived by, and was incredibly proud of, their daughter, Melissa, son in law, Evan, and beloved grandchildren, Joshua, Samantha, and Wyatt.
A Celebration of Life will be held November 21st, 1p.m. at Lohman's Funeral Home, 1201 Dunlawton Ave. Port Orange, FL 32127. In lieu of flowers, donations to Halifax Humane Society are welcomed.
