Obituary

Mildred Elizabeth Carter passed away on March 21, 2014. She was a resident of Bishop's Glen and a homemaker. She was born on May 25, 1920, in Stoney Creek, Virginia. At age 5 she moved to Holly Hill, Florida. She graduated from Mainland High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Harold Carter; parents, Ellis L. Flippo, Sr. and Olive Mayes Flippo; brothers, Ellis L. Flippo, Jr. and Wilson Mayes (a WWII casualty) and sister, Kathleen Hilda Anderson. She is survived by daughter, Faye Elizabeth Wagner (Bill) and son, Ronald Harold Carter (Pam); grand-daughters, Meredith Lynn Blanco and Allison Paige Espinosa (Roger); grandsons, Chad Edward Carter (Jacquie) and Matthew Lyle Carter (Rachel); nieces, Jolyn Broxton Vanicky (Bruce) and Regina Broxton Nowell (Francis); Nephew, William Hart Anderson (Meral) and James Anderson; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Paige Blanco, and Celeste Indigo Carter; and great-grandsons, Jonathan Wagner Espinosa, Nicolas Wagner Espinosa, Christopher Rojelio Espinosa, Peter Carter Espinosa, Austin Matthew Carter, Andrew Stephen Carter, and Eli Matthew Carter. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach having been a living member longer than any other. For over 50 years she taught second and third grade Sunday school. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church; 118 N. Palmetto Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114 earmarked "Children's Sunday School" and Florida Hospital Hospice Care, 770 W. Granada Blvd, Suite 304, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M at Cardwell Baggett and Summers Funeral Home, 3571 S. Ridgewood Ave, Port Orange, FL 32129. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 10:00 A.M at First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, 118 N. Palmetto Ave, Daytona Beach FL. Burial will be private at Shady Rest Cemetery in Holly Hill, FL in the Carter Family plot. Condolences can be shared with the family at .
