Peter J. Fray, 70, of Port Orange, passed away on Thursday May 23, 2013 with his loving family by his side. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M on Friday May 31, 2013 at Cardwell Funeral Home, with Father Chris Hoffmann of Our Lady of Hope officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Peter was born on September 9, 1942 in Danbury, Connecticut to the late Claire (Fitzgerald) and George S. Fray. He served proudly in the United States Amy and was honorably discharged as an E4 in 1963. He retired from the Watervliet Arsenal in New York where he worked as a machinist and tool maker. Peter was an avid softball player, manger, umpire, and the commissioner of the Greater Daytona Beach Senior Softball Association. He loved to dance, enjoyed golf, playing cards, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his children; Diana (Jimmy) Svab-Gardner, of Port Orange, Dawn (Donald) Sherman, of Schenectady, New York, Michael (Laura) Fray, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; brothers, Paul (Camilla) Fray, Michael (Michelle) Fray; grandchildren, Michael (Wendy) Jegier, Justin Jegier, Jason Jegier, Michael Fray Jr., Sarah Fray; and many extended family members and friends. Peter is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Cora Fray; parents, Claire and George Fray; brothers, George C. Fray, and Victor Fray.
