Reily A. Burrell, 87, New Smyrna Beach, Florida passed away November 8, 2014. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, November 16, 1926 where he lived and worked for a majority of his life. He was proud to be an Eagle Scout and graduated from Shortridge High School and Indiana University, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. As a member of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II. Playing cards, listening to music and watching old movies and sitcoms were some of his favorite hobbies. He loved being with his family, in fact, he was voted "World's Greatest Dad", by his kids. Most of all, Christ was in his life. He had a great sense of humor, some of which was reflected in poems he wrote and nicknames he had for family members, friends and co-workers. Early in his career, Reily sold pharmaceuticals and then real estate. He found his nitch in appraising real estate with the Indiana Department of Highways. Later, he became Chief Appraiser with the City of Indianapolis and formed his own appraisal business in 1974. Survivors include his wife, Joan, of over 64 years; daughter, Barbara J. Epps (Greg); sons, Reily A. Burrell, II (Diane) and Tom R. Albershardt; granddaughter, Heidi S. Gabriel (Chris) with two great-grandchildren (Abby & Connor); grandsons, Michael C. Sputh and Garrett M. Epps (Lane). A celebration of Reily's life will be held in the spring.
