Richard (Dick) E. Wood, 91, of Port Orange, FL., passed away at home on April 25, 2026, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, stepfather and friend. He touched the lives of everyone with his kindness, wit and generosity. He took the role of the eldest child very seriously, helping and guiding his five siblings. He was so loved and appreciated by his five daughters, one son, one stepdaughter and two stepsons. After graduating Waltham Senior High School, 1952, he joined the Navy followed by the U. S. Coast Guard with a combined total of 40+ years of service in the Military. Dick received his BS from University of Maine and Associate of Engineering from Lowell Technological Institute. Dick was a life member of the VFW and a member of the KWVA, DAV, American Legion, Mason’s, the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Maine and the Maine connection in FL. Dick was an avid sailor, he and his wife took many cruises. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Edith Wood, his deceased former wife Aida, and his brothers David, Robert (Bobby), his sisters Janyce Williamson and Doris Allen, his only son from his first marriage, Robert (Roy) Wood. Dick is survived by his sister, Evelyn Wood. His daughters, Debra Iacobucci, Sandra (Steve) Cobb, 3 grandchildren, Barbara (David) Rathbone, 3 grandchildren, Susan (Cobby) Cobb, 2 grandchildren (1 deceased), and Cheryl (David) Trafford, 3 grandchildren, current wife of 15 years, Mary, sons Michael Kosky, 2 grandchildren, Roger Kosky, and daughter Christine (Jim) Frampton who lovingly called him “Daddy Dick”, 2 sons, (1 deceased). Dick has numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends
Memorial Service will be held on May 14th at 10 am with a graveside Military send-off at Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims, FL. 32754. After will be prayer with Father Ken of the Basilica of St. Paul, Daytona Beach.
Following will be a Celebration of Life at Dixie Crossroads Restaurant, 1475 Garden St., Titusville, FL 32796.
