Robert N. Westwood
1936 ~ 2022
Robert Norman Westwood, 86, of South Daytona, was finally reunited with the love of his life on October 15, 2022. His beloved wife of 34 years, died in 1996, although he spoke of her as if she was forever with him. He passed away peacefully, in his home, surrounded by family.
Robert, better known as Bob, but don't spell it backwards, was born on July 17, 1936, in Paterson, New Jersey. He was the only son of five children. After high school, Bob joined the United States Navy, where he was a radioman third class. He served 4 years, before leaving to join the financial community in Rhode Island and then in Florida. While in Florida, Bob and Peggy, provided a home for numerous foster children over the years, ultimately adopting and raising their two sons in Gainesville, Florida and then West Paterson, New Jersey.
Bob and Peggy moved to Daytona Beach to retire in 1985. Their home served as a home away from home for all of his family members, especially his two grandchildren. Bob spent his golden years playing softball and taking advantage of the local early bird specials. He was an avid member of St Paul's Basilica in Daytona Beach. He is survived by his two sons, Mitchell and Christopher Westwood, his daughter-in-law Jill Westwood, his loving sister Geraldine Westwood, his grand-children, Jessica and James Westwood, his great-grand-child Rainelle Diane Westwood, and many loving aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret (Peggy) Jane (Allen) Westwood, parents, Joseph Elroy Westwood and Geraldine Glaeser, three sisters, Joan Peplowski, Mary Gurlacz, Jo Ann Warren, and grand-son River James.
