Shirley M. Homes, 78, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2014. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 4:00 PM at United Brethren in Christ Church 560 Flomich Street, Holly Hill, FL 32117. Shirley was born in Lakewood, New Jersey in 1936 to the late Paul and Julia Newman. She moved to Florida with her family in the early 1940's where she has lived ever since. Shirley enjoyed bingo, embroidery, picnics, and visits to Juniper Springs. Above all she adored her family without question. Shirley is preceded in death by her grandson, Devin Dean and sister, Joy Woolley. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tammy (Greg) Dean; son, Mark (Dawn) Holmes; sisters, Paula Starling and Judy Krejci; grandchildren, Kristen Skreland, Leah Holmes, and Colin Holmes. In lieu of flowers make donations to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flager at 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
